Alas it was not ment to be for Black Rose it seemed that 'Fate' had bigger and better things awaiting the King. Apon joining Hank Shermann's band "the Brats", They made demos of songs like "Some Day", "Death Kiss", "Combat Zone" and "Love Criminals". During the same year, King and Shermann were asked by (former Brat guitarist) Michael Denner and Timi 'Grabber' Hansen's band DANGER ZONE to help them record a demo. And thus the one and only Mercyful Fate was born...

One year later, in 1982, they recorded in mere days what would become their most sought after recording to date, the legendary "untitled" EP
